FOOD RAID NEWS OF TIRUNELVELI IN ANDHRA-EENAADU MAGAZINE

 With the beginning of the summer season and the burning temperature shooting up to 100degrees,the vendors have started selling soft drinks and fruits in large quantities. The ever rising demand have made the street vendors to indulge in many cut throat methods to quench the thirst of the public.
                                    Tirunelveli Corporation Public Health officials triggered the raids on unhygienic foods early in this month which spread all over the state in a few days.  Chennai Corporation Public Health Officials also started screwing the illicit vendors which found place in the mass media.
                                       Spurious soft drinks packets with slight differences in popular brand names are being sold in the market mainly in bus stands,markets where there is huge floating population.Those packet soft drinks were found to be highly sub standard and are prepared in most unhygienic conditions. They don't follow the mandatory labeling procedures like manufacturing date, Batch number,etc., 
                       Nearly, three thousand spurious soft drink packets were caught during the raids conducted in Tirunelveli Corporation area and 40,000 spurious soft drink packets were seized in Chennai Corporation thanks to the commentable efforts of Food Inspectors SakthiMurugan,Ramraj,Muthukrishnan and Sathasivan. The total value together starts in lakhs.
                        The next huge hazard affecting the public health is the sale of mangoes ripened using the Calcium Carbide. Calcium carbide is the chemical used to evolve high temperatures in gas welding units. When used to ripen the mangoes, they are supposed to release enormous heat which makes both matured and immature mangoes to get an evenly yellow colour mangoes.

The Tirunelveli Corporation Commissioner Dr.N.Subbaiyan has severely warned the traders not to indulge in the sale of Carbide mangoes, which found place in many dailies. Meanwhile, the Public Health Officials of Madurai Corporation has conducted a mass raid on carbide ripen mangoes on the instructions of the District Collector, Thiru.Sahayam, the beloved hero of the city.

we doing these regulatory activities with mass support of the highier officials respectively .But the vendors [offenders]are not coming to change their mind.In interest of public health we have to find a permanent solution.
