SAFE FOOD FROM THE HANDS OF STREET VENDORS



                  Delhi’s eclectic range of street food is known and loved for many things. Hygiene is not among them. The capital where thousands of vendors sell snacks and meals from carts, stalls and the back of bicycles, lends its name to the stomach upset known to travelers as Delhi Belly and has a reputation for requiring diners to have a strong digestive system. Now, government officials and a group representing the street vendors themselves want to change that.

Packaged water makers must get NoC from all the appropriate authorities : Green Tribunal

                               Packaged drinking water manufacturers should get no objection certificate (NoC) from all appropriate government authorities including the Directorate of Food Safety and Standards Authority before applying for pollution control board, the Southern Bench of the National Green Tribunal has said.

BLANKET BAN ON TOBACCO PRODUCTS

            

         
        The Union health ministry  favored banning of all kinds of gutka saying the poor are vulnerable to it but expressed reservation on banning cigarette as it is not "affordable to everyone" and endorsed a ban on the manufacture and sale of all forms of nicotine-laced pan masala, gutka and chewing tobacco, telling the Supreme Court that the economic cost of tobacco use far outweigh revenues from its sale.
