Communication is a process of sending and receiving information among people. Humans communicate with others not only by face-to-face communication, but also by giving information via the Internet and printed products such as books and newspapers. Many people believe that the significance of communication is like the importance of breathing. Indeed, communication facilitates the spread of knowledge and forms relationships between people.
It has been a great challenge to implement food safety norms in food establishments. To overcome the lacunae, the Food Safety Department is organizing regular awareness camps at Schools and Colleges, If we teach a child/student, the message reaches their whole family.
Not only to the students, the department is organising IEC meetings for Food Business operators, Distributors of food products, Manufacturers and also to the Food handlers. It is a continuous programme.
It is our style to arrange a demonstration of food items and adulterants in every IEC programme. We arrange an exhibition of food items and their adulterants and the ways to detect adulteration.
An IEC programme was organised in the Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli in this month. Students participated with lots of energy. The Principal and the Administrative Officer were present in the programme.
Earlier a similar programme was conducted for the Food Business operators operating in the Tirunelveli City at their Chamber of Commerce building.
A similar programme was conducted at the Little Flower Matriculation School and also in the Rani Anna College, Palayapettai.
Another IEC programme was conducted for the Distributors of Food products in Tirunelveli City. It is all a team work. The team leader is our Designated Officer Dr.V.Senthil Kumar, M.B.B.S., and my colleagues Food Safety Officers Thiru.P.Kalimuthu and Thiru.A.C.Ramesh.
An unforgattable programme was conducted at Sri Paramakalyani College, Alwarkuruchi. It is because that I am an Old student of that college. I was blessed to conduct an IEC programme in the college where I did my undergraduation in Science.
